Denver Broncos insider Troy Renck gave us his views on the upcoming NFL Draft and the 2017 season after the schedule was released on Thursday.

When you first saw the 2017 schedule, what was your immediate reaction?

The Broncos need to get off to a fast start, winning home games against the Chargers and Raiders. The schedule is brutal late and the bye week comes too early.

How challenging will it be with an early bye week and a three game road stretch?

It will define the season. The key is the defence showing improvement in stopping the run. The bye week won’t help. Needed it later.

What are you early predictions for the Broncos record, and which game/s will be the toughest?

My prediction is 10-6. They can achieve that by going 6-2 at home. I have taken a bit of a contradictory approach with the Broncos playing well late on the road. I believe they will need to beat Kansas City in the season finale to reach the postseason.

Who do you think the Broncos will draft in the first round and why?

I believe they will go with a playmaker in Miami’s David Njoku. He provides a red zone threat not seen since the salad days of Wes Welker and Julius Thomas. If Christian McCaffrey is available at No. 14, I could see them moving up to get him.

Who are the potential later round selections we should look out for who could make the 53 man roster if drafted?

Inside linebackers and cornerbacks make great picks late. They provide depth and typically can play well on special teams.

Who will be the Broncos No.1 QB come September 11th?

Trevor Siemian.

Who is the best Brandon Marshall!?

Next season it will be the Broncos’ Marshall. For a career, the Giants’ Marshall wins the argument.

Thanks to Troy Renck for taking the time to answer our questions.
