In the second of our Denver Broncos UK season previews, admin André Bani looks ahead to the new season.

How has preseason affected your optimism for this season?

Preseason doesn’t affect my optimism at all, its preseason. You can go 4-0 and have a losing season, or you can go 0-4 and win the Super Bowl. That said, I am glad most of this year’s draft class have surpassed my expectations.

Who was your standout performer in preseason?

All the rookies were impressive, especially Courtland Sutton and Phillip Lindsay.

How happy are you with the QB situation?

I’m really happy with the quarterback position right now. Last year Case Keenum showed that he can be the starter for your franchise. The pre-season seems to echo my sentiment with Keenum’s connections with the receivers. However, my expectations are not too high as anyone can be a one year wonder, and then after getting paid all of a sudden their productions drops.

Who do you want a big performance from week 1 and why?

I would like to see Case Keenum and the rookies go big. That would be a huge step in validating John Elway’s decisions this summer.

What are your thoughts on the AFC West?

I’ll start with the Oakland Raiders. What have they been doing!? They traded their best asset in Khalil Mack for two first round draft picks. They appear to have gone from bad to worse. Even with additions like Jordy Nelson I don’t think they will threaten the division, purely because with Mack gone their defence has got weaker, and last year their offence was sub-par.

In respect to the Chiefs, I do not know what to expect. I guess they will be a decent outfit but I don’t think they will be as good as they were in the last 2 or 3 years. Their defence looks relatively weak, but of course they still have big playmakers on offence.

The LA Chargers look like being a formidable opponent. I think their defence is good although they lost Jason Verrett. Their pass rush is definitely something to be wary of if you’re a quarterback. Their offence has been okay led by Phillip Rivers and he has Antonio Gates coming back. We could see a battle for the AFC West between the Chargers and Broncos.

What record do you think the Broncos will finish with?

I think we’ll go to the playoffs with an 11-5 record. The Rams, Texans and Steelers are all tough teams to beat. The other two losses I see coming within the division because you simply do not know how the games will pan out.
