In the first of our Denver Broncos UK admin previews, Martin McDade looks ahead to the 2018 campaign at Broncos Stadium.

How has preseason affected your optimism ahead of the season?

Preseason doesn’t affect me at all. Of course, it’s nice to see encouraging performances. But on the whole it means nothing. Last preseason we went 4-0, and how did the regular season pan out?

Who was your standout performer in preseason?

The rookies stood out for me. Royce Freeman, Courtland Sutton and Bradley Chubb in particular. Honourable mention to Phillip Lindsay.

How happy are you with the QB situation?

I’m the happiest I’ve been since Peyton Manning retired. But if I’m honest, I’m still little anxious to see how Case Keenum pans out. I’m not expecting MVP level numbers from him, but Keenum needs to have a few stand out performances before I’m fully confident in him being under center.

Who do you want a big performance from week 1 and why?

As stated above, I want a big performance from Keenum to erase some of my doubts.

What are your thoughts on the AFC West?

I believe it will be a battle between the Broncos and the LA Chargers. Oakland have been making baffling moves all off-season, so I can see them finishing bottom of the division. The Chiefs could be pretty good offensively but their defence has lost a lot of talent and looks incapable of stopping anyone. Patrick Mahomes could have too much pressure on him trying to score over 30 points each week. If we have a much improved turnover ratio, I think we will be in the race for a playoff spot.

What record do you think the Broncos will finish with?

I’ll go with 9-7.
